J Mathis Fine Art ..... Original Works To Nourish Your Soul
These works are evocative, sometimes startling; rich in color, texture, fun, raw emotion and spirituality. They tell tales of my life, my inner life.......and maybe yours, too. Gallery and studio visitors often ask me the age-old cliche', "What is the meaning behind this piece?" But, the answer is always, "Whatever it says to you, that's the meaning of this piece." If it says nothing to you then it isn't meant to be yours. If it speaks something to you that you'd like to hear over and over again, then buy it. If it lives in you on a level that feeds your soul, it's meant for you.
. acrylic on canvas . recycled art collage on canvas . watercolor . pastel . custom murals . original monotype . limited commission work . soul painting .
Soul Painting is a technique which I developed to aide students in breaking the barriers of an artist's creative blocks. It turns out that it is an emotionally cleansing experience for artists and non-artists alike. No painting experience is necessary. Just be human. This cleansing, intense experience is a combination of guided meditation, chanting, music and painting.
SOUL PAINTING - group and individual sessions available. Create a unique experience for your next gathering.
Studio visits arranged by appointment. You may also choose some pieces via email images and I will bring them to your home or office so you can experience them in your own environment.
